Welcome to M. Dickie Guitars. We are a small, locally owned shop in Gallatin Valley specializing in the repair of stringed instruments while also making our own custom acoustic and electric guitars that we offer for sale. See our repairs and custom builds sections for more info on the specific services we offer.
About Us
I'm Matt, a Montana native, who attended the Galloup School Of Guitar Building And Repair in Big Rapids, Michigan. Before that I was a guitar instructor at Bozeman Music Lessons where I still teach when time allows. I love talking shop and take pride in listening to the individual needs of my customers. I want my customers happy and excited to play the instruments I repair and build. From the cheapest guitars, to boutique customs, or the heirloom that has been in the family for a hundred years, I treat every instrument with the same care and respect.
Liz, hailing from Alabama, attended the same Galloup School (any guesses where we met?), before moving to Montana. Her background resides in the world of furniture restoration and repair, a trade she still happily pursues. Liz likes a lot of variety when it comes to her profession(s) and therefore, in addition to lutherie, she likes to dabble in jewelry making, leather working, and general woodworking. I'm lucky to spend my days working next to such a talented woman.
And finally we have Adira, our adopted German Shepherd. She answers the phones and offers emotional support for those days when the bandsaw blade breaks or I accidentally chip one of my chisels.
When we aren't working we spend time with family, camp, fish or just sit on the deck for a breath of that Montana air.
Thank you for checking out our business and please call or email us with any questions. We look forward to meeting you.
